conference report Kyiv

Conference in the capital

From May 29th until June 1st the Alumni Network Ukraine-Germany held its first conference in the capital Kiev, with support from the Centre of German Law of National Taras-Shevtshenko-University.

Besides opportunities for exchange and networking participants had the chance to take part in another certified continuing education – this time on Quality Management in Higher Education by JMU-Quality Manager Dr. Annette Köster. Main topics of specialist lectures were Software Engineering, Digital Transformation of the World, Technology Transfer, founding a Start-up Business and Brain Drain and Working Opportunities. Experts from the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the German-Ukrainian Academic Society and others provided extended information and opportunities to get in touch on topics such as funding for research projects and stays at German research institutions as well as on scholarship programs and labor market perspectives for Ukrainian returnees. In this context, Alumni of a range of funding programs and institutions shared their experiences.

Participants had, again, the chance to meet high-class speakers such as Andreas Lier, President of the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry / Managing Director BASF Ukraine, who pointed out, with excitement, which opportunities young academics could seize in Ukraine. An excursion to company Veka in Kalinovka made this week full of inspiring ideas and perspectives, new contacts and partnerships complete. We express our gratitude toward all participants, speakers and supporters for investing time and effort in another successful and exciting alumni conference.
