Enrolment

You do NOT have to apply for admission to degree programmes with unrestricted admission (except for Master’s programmes); just enrol within the specified enrolment deadlines. Please enrol via our ENROLMENT PORTAL WueStudy. The enrolment period will start

  • around mid-July for winter intake and
  • around mid-February for summer intake.

Information on restricted admission programmes:

To be able to enrol in a restricted admission degree programme, you must have submitted an application for admission to university to the competent institution (hochschulstart.de or University of Würzburg) in due time and must have received an offer of admission. For exact enrolment deadlines and more information on the enrolment process, please refer to your letter of admission.

ONLINE enrolment involves three simple steps. You will not have to come to our office in person.

1. Enrol via our web portal

If you want to enrol in a programme with unrestricted admission, please enter your personal details on the input screens. Once you have entered all the required information, you will be able to print out your completed application for enrolment.

If you want to enrol in a restricted admission programme, you will be able to print out your application for enrolment straight away (you already entered your details when you applied for admission).

2. Print out and post your application for enrolment

Please print out your application for enrolment and return it to the University of Würzburg together with the required documents (see printout for address and list of required documents).

If you are underage at the time you submit your application for enrolment, please make sure your parents/legal guardians also sign the document. Information for underage university students ans their parents

3. Pay your semester fees

Please transfer  your semester fees to the account of the University of Würzburg.

Done!

After successful enrolment you will receive an email with your Studmail address. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam folder. You may also have to adjust the settings for deleting spam emails first!

You will receive all further information (including the two welcome mails for enrolment) from us at this new address.

Please submit the documents listed below together with your application for enrolment. The list of required documents can also be found on the printout of your application for enrolment.

1. Printout of your application for enrolment

2. Certificate of higher education entrance qualification (Abitur etc.)

Complete (certified) copy. If you already submitted a certified copy to the University of Würzburg (not to hochschulstart.de) when you applied for admission to a restricted admission degree programme, you will not have to submit another one.

If you are not holding a general higher education entrance qualification, please make sure you read the information on higher education entrance qualifications.

3. Photocopy of your ID or passport

You can (and should) black out information that is not required for identification purposes, in particular access and serial numbers.

4. Notification of health insurance status

Since 01.01.2022, the notification of your health insurance status is made directly by your statutory health insurance company. You only need to inform your health insurance company that you intend to enrol at the University of Würzburg. The health insurance company will then take care of everything else for you.

Important: Privately insured persons and persons who have health insurance abroad also need this notification.

Please also make sure you have read the information on student health insurance.

We will process your application as quickly as possible.

We receive more than 4,000 applications for enrolment, and, in the interest of fairness, we do not offer preferential treatment. Please bear in mind that all applicants are waiting for their applications to be processed. If we offered a ‘fast track’ service for some applicants, others would have to wait longer, and this would be unfair.

We only give preferential treatment to applications for enrolment in restricted admission degree programmes. This is due to the fact that there are fixed deadlines to be met in admission procedures.

We process all applications for enrolment in the order of receipt (the order is determined solely by the date an application was stamped ‘received’). We do not give preferential treatment to applications that were handed in in person but rather stamp them ‘received’ and place them in the pile of applications.

Please allow about two to three weeks from the date of receipt for us to process your application for enrolment - the exact time needed will vary according to the number of applications we have received. It will usually take longer to process incomplete applications that require us to check back with applicants.

If you have not received a message from the University of Würzburg by four weeks after you submitted your application, you can send an email to studierendenkanzlei@uni-wuerzburg.de asking when you can expect to hear back from us. To avoid unnecessary delay in the processing of applications, please do not contact us earlier to enquire about your application for enrolment.
