Quality Objectives

In its mission statement, JMU clearly states its conviction that the high quality of learning and teaching at a university must always be derived from and supported by research, and is only possible when it is closely linked to the scientific activities and projects of the university’s faculties and institutes.

Internationalization of University Teaching

JMU is an internationally renowned university with a high number of international students, lecturers, and staff. International study programs and course content as well as an excellent network of internationally active researchers round out the university’s diverse range of offers.

Teaching Awards

The Award for Good Teaching at the State Universities of Bavaria: Every year, this teaching prize is given out by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and the Arts. The Albert Kölliker Teaching Award of the Medical Faculty: This teaching prize is awarded twice yearly to promote and improve teaching.

Working Scientifically

Writing and publishing scientific papers is part of the process of scientific work and is therefore subject to the guidelines that ensure good scientific practice.

Quality Pact für Teaching at JMU

To improve the conditions of study and the quality of teaching, JMU takes part in the joint federal and state government program Quality Pact for Teaching. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) currently supports two JMU projects that will continue until 2020.
