Making Changes to Your Personal Details
This page will tell you how to make changes to the details we have on file for you:
- your first name and/or surname,
- your first name and/or gender designation (if you are a transgender individual),
- your nationality, and
- your contact details (address).
Request changes in Wuestudy
Since winter semester 2022/23, you can request changes to your name, citizenship or gender in WueStudy.
Please log in to WueStudy and navigate to "My studies" - "Requests"

You have changed your name?
Please submit an official document (e. g. a photocopy of your marriage certificate or certificate of change of name) that proves your change of name.
You can upload the proof as a file in WueStudy when submitting your application. As soon as we receive your application, we will enter the name change in WueStudy. Please make sure you also notify our colleagues across JMU, e. g. staff at your Faculty, the Chip Card Office (for issuing a new student ID card) and the Information Technology Centre (to customize the student email address), about your name change.
First name and/or gender designation
You have changed your first name and/or gender?
In this case, please also apply for the change in WueStudy and upload the dgti supplementary identity card (German Society for Transidentity and Intersexuality - https://dgti.org/ergaenzungsausweis.html) in connection with the valid identity card/passport or a legally binding decision of the local court there.
We will change your name and/or gender designation in WueStudy as soon as we have received this documents. Please make sure you also notify our colleagues across JMU, e. g. staff at your Faculty, the Chip Card Office (for issuing a new student ID card) and the Information Technology Centre (to customize the student email address), about the change(s).
You have dual citizenship, have recently been naturalised, or renounced a nationality?
Please also inform us of this change in WueStudy, as we are obliged to record this data according to the Higher Education Statistics Act. To prove this, please upload suitable proof (e.g. naturalisation certificate).
We need to know the following details about you:
- your postal address (home and semester-time addresses),
- your email address, and
- your phone number.
To check that the details we have on file for you are up to date and, where necessary, make changes to these details, log in to the WueStudy portal.
If your contact details have changed, please let us know immediately. It is essential that you keep us up to date on your address and contact details. If you fail to do so, you might not receive important information from us.
How do I make changes to my contact details?
To be able to make changes to your contact details, you need valid WueStudy log in details (user name and password).
Log in to WueStudy. Either click the ‘Student services’ tile on the ‘My portal’ page or go to ‘My studies’ and select ‘Student services’. After you have done so, go to the ‘Contact details’ tab.
To view the address(es), email address(es), and phone number(s) we have on file for you and to check the respective data for correctness, click ‘Edit’. On the page you will be taken to, you can make changes to your contact details or select a new postal address.
Can I use this function?
Yes, you can if you are enrolled in a programme at the University of Würzburg.
When can I use this function?
You can use this function 24/7 except during maintenance downtimes. These are scheduled the first Thursday of every month. The WueStudy support team is available to answer questions during regular office hours only.
For how long can I use this function?
You can use this function to make changes to your contact details for as long as you are enrolled in a programme at the University of Würzburg, and you maintain access to WueStudy for one year after disenrolment. All other services of the University of Würzburg except WueStudy are no longer available to you after disenrolment. Please also note the information provided by the Information Technology Centre on the validity period of your JMU account.
