Application Statuses

  • In preparation
An application for admission to a degree programme that you have created/started to create in the portal but have not yet submitted will have the status ‘in preparation’.
While your application is in this status, you can edit and delete it. You can also edit additional information (e. g. about your higher education entrance qualification or periods of study in other programmes) that is relevant to that particular application but not to other applications you have submitted already.
  • Received (online)
New applications that were ‘received (online)’.
  • Valid
All valid applications will take part in the admission procedure.
  • Preliminarily excluded
Applications that will not take part in the admission procedure until, for example, missing documents have been submitted.
  • Excluded
If an application was excluded, it will not take part in the admission procedure.
  • Offered admission/admitted
Applications that were ranked high enough will receive an offer of admission. If you were offered a place, you can either accept it and enrol or you can decline it. Please bear in mind that you must do so before the applicable deadline has passed.
  • Currently not qualified for offer of admission
Applications that were not ranked high enough and currently do not qualify for an offer of admission.
  • Withdrawn

You can withdraw an application submitted by you at any time (except when it is in status ‘excluded’ or ‘admitted’). If you withdraw an application, it will not take part in the admission procedure. An application that was withdrawn can be resubmitted within the application deadline and will then be set back to its previous status.
You cannot edit an application while its status is ‘withdrawn’. An exception to that rule applies if an application was in status ‘received’ at the time it was withdrawn: You can then edit all information that is relevant to that particular application but not to other applications you have submitted already (except for the requested degree programme).

  • Deferred

You can ONLY request deferred enrolment if you are completing a service and are thus unable to accept your place in the current round of admissions. If you are eligible for a deferral of admission, a letter confirming that fact will be available for you to download from the JMU application portal.
