Project: Immunocompromised patients are prone to Infections with opportunistic fungui such as air borne A. fumigatus causing invasive aspergillosis. The defense against such infections is controlled by innate immunity, specifically, tissue-resident alveolar macrophages (AM) which have been described as a first line of defense against fungal pathogens. Therefore, in my project, we address how defined cytokines can orchestrate and boost AM response to protect against A. fumigatus infection.
