Contact and Information Centre for Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses (KIS)

Information and advice

We offer information, advice and support for people with long-term or permanent impairments (e.g. physical and mental illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, spasticity, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, anxiety disorders, depression, hearing, sight and speech impairments, partial performance disorders such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, and autism spectrum disorders).

  • Employees of the central administration

Our forms of information and advice:

  • Personal, telephone or e-mail counselling
  • Realisation service for blind and visually impaired students
  • Assistive equipment loan service
  • Coordination of study assistants
  • Arranging contacts with relevant persons/institutions within and outside the university (disability associations, integration office, care service)
  • On request, study-related counselling and support and provision of aids in the form of a laptop for exams

Information and advice topics:

  • Admission to the degree programme (e.g. application for additional semesters to be taken into account)
  • Options for action in the event of disability or illness-related problems during the course of studies
  • Structures and services for disabled and chronically ill people in the university sector (e.g. barrier-free accessibility and usability of buildings and facilities, use of the central university library)
  • Guidelines and application procedures in relation to integration assistance, e.g. application to the Bezirk of Lower Franconia department for integration assistance for attending a university
  • Compensation for disadvantages in examinations and homework (e.g. time extension)
  • Procurement of aids and loan of aids (laptop e.g. for dyslexics)
