Kategorie: Fakultät für Humanwissenschaften, Workshop
Veranstalter: Career Centre
Vortragende: Kristian Schubert

International students face particular challenges when entering the German labour market. As well as technical requirements, unspoken rules, communication styles and cultural expectations also play a central role. These differences become apparent during their studies, for instance in project work, internships, part-time employment or when interacting with teachers and companies. In this practical seminar, international students explore key aspects of German work culture. They reflect on their own cultural influences, learn about the typical values, norms, and communication patterns of German working life, and develop strategies for dealing with cultural differences. The seminar enables international students to examine key aspects of German work culture. They reflect on their own cultural influences and learn about typical values, norms and communication patterns in everyday working life in Germany. They also develop confidence in dealing with misunderstandings, feedback and hierarchies. The focus is on specific situations encountered during studies, internships and career entry.
