International Evening
The International Evening is back! Join us on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM at the Hubland Sports Centre of the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg. National and international students, university staff, and members of the public are warmly invited. The event is also a great opportunity for prospective students to learn about study abroad options and international experiences at an early stage. Admission is free.
Special Guest this year: The Language Centre (ZFS) with its exhibition: "The Language Centre Writes"-Creative Writing at the ZfS.
As part of the International Evening on June 23, 2026, the JMU Language Centre (ZFS) will present the results of a unique cross-language teaching project. Under the title “The Language Centre Writes”, students from various language courses have worked in small groups to create poems and short texts. Guided step by step by their instructors—from initial ideas and vocabulary collection to the final version—they have produced a diverse range of multilingual contributions that reflect their creativity and perspectives.
The texts will be displayed at the Language Centre’s booth, where visitors are invited to vote for the works that inspire or move them most. Later that evening, the three most popular contributions will be honored in an award ceremony.
The project will continue beyond the event: selected texts will be permanently exhibited at the Language Centre, showcasing the linguistic diversity and creativity of JMU students.A project that brings together voices from around the world and makes the richness of languages come alive.
Also joining us this year: Africa Competence Center of the University of Wuerzburg (ACCUW):
The ACCUW invites all students to visit its pavilion during the International Evening. Whether you are interested in studying, completing an internship, or conducting research in Africa, the ACCUW team will be happy to discuss opportunities with you—regardless of your destination or field of interest. ACCUW brings together Africa-related activities from ten JMU faculties. Students and researchers from Africa are especially welcome to share their experiences at JMU and discuss their future plans with us.
To celebrate the 60-year partnership between Würzburg and Mwanza, a guided tour will be offered at Würzburg Town Hall. The tour will lead visitors through the trilingual ACCUW exhibition “Life in Science: Voices from Würzburg & Mwanza”, which explores studying, researching, and everyday life in both cities.
Date: Tuesday, June 23, 2026, 3:00 PM
Meeting Point: Würzburg Town Hall, Upper Foyer (1st Floor)
As part of the official opening of the International Evening at 7:00 PM, Chancellor Dr. Uwe Klug will once again present certificates to the graduates of UNIversInternational, JMU’s internationalization program for administrative and support staff. Through three engaging modules and a job-related international mobility experience, participants have enhanced their language and intercultural skills while exchanging best practices and building networks with colleagues from around the world. Join us in celebrating this lived internationalization!
The evening will also feature the presentation of the Würzburg Residence Run team trophies, recognizing outstanding teamwork, commitment, and achievement.
And there is much more to look forward to: drumming, dancing, and a spectacular fire show that will bring the evening to a memorable close.
