Emil Hilb Programme II

What is the purpose of the programme?

The purpose of this programme is to support researchers who are writing new or renewal proposals for large collaborative research projects that will be primarily based at JMU (e.g. collaborative research centres, research training groups, research units, etc.).

Who can apply?

(Designated) spokespersons of collaborative projects

Individual proposal funding cap

up to €200,000 (depending on the type of collaborative project)

New proposals

  • Spokespersons of CRCs: up to €200,000
  • Spokespersons of CRC/TRRs: up to €100,000
  • Spokespersons of research training groups: up to €100,000
  • Spokespersons of research units based at one location: up to €100,000
  • Spokespersons of research units based at two or more locations: up to €50,000
  • Other types of collaboration: details available on request

Renewal proposals

  • See above for applicable funding amounts
  • Funding will only be provided for projects that have been approved (this applies for proposals from all fields of research, including the humanities and social sciences).

How is it financed?

100% by university funds

Closing dates for proposals

Proposals may be submitted at any time.

Funding for projects in the humanities and social sciences (excluding psychology):

Usually up to 50% of grant funds will be disbursed in advance and 50% upon approval of the proposal.
Funding decisions will be made once the proposed projects have been presented to the university and the relevant faculty.

Funding for projects in the natural and life sciences (including psychology):

Usually up to 20% of grant funds will be disbursed in advance and 80% upon approval of the proposal.
Funding decisions will be made once the proposed projects have been presented to the university and the relevant faculty.
