In his capacity as Deputy Chancellor, Klaus Baumann discharges the duties of the Chancellor of the University when the Chancellor is temporarily absent or has instructed him to do so.
Born in 1968, Klaus Baumann is holding a law degree. He joined the University of Würzburg in 1996. Klaus Baumann spent his first ten years at JMU working as a jurist in the Human Resources Department and served as a head of unit within that department from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, Klaus Baumann joined the Legal Department and Electoral Office of the University. He has been head of that department since 2013.
In addition to his duties at JMU, Klaus Baumann spent 14 years teaching law for nurses at a vocational college. From 2004 to 2012, he ran the University’s Kinderuni programme for children. Before he was appointed Deputy Chancellor, Klaus Baumann served on the University’s Senate and Board of Elections as well as on the University Council.
