Inflammation and cardiac damage – role of CD4+-T-cells after myocardial infarction

    Summary

CD4+ T-cells improve healing and remodeling after myocardial infarction. Our results suggest, that activation of T-cells after myocardial infarction is antigen dependent. Thus, we want to test whether recognition of antigens released after myocardial injury induces a protective T-cell response. On the other side, we could show that protective T-cell effects are mediated via regulatory T-cells. Therefore, we want to test clinical relevant therapeutic strategies to activate regulatory T-cells to improve healing in our murine myocardial infarction model.
