Unit 4.5 Training and Development for Non-Academic Staff

English Conversation - Lower Advanced Course

When? From 19 October 2021 to 25 January 2022. The course will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 15:00 to 16:30.
Where? To be taught online via Zoom and WueCampus
Technical requirements This course will be taught online via Zoom and WueCampus. To use Zoom, you will need a reliable internet connection as well as a laptop or desktop computer, a webcam (if you don’t have a laptop with a built-in camera, you can use a separate webcam) and a headset or speakers and a microphone. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch!
English language requirements

This course is designed for people with English language skills at CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) B2 and C1 levels. Click here to find out your CEFR level.

Alternatively, you can take the assessment test on the website of the University of Cambridge (free and optional).

If you start a course and realise during the first two sessions that it is not suitable for you, you can change to another course. Please be aware, however, that course changes must be cleared with the team at Unit 4.5.

UNIversInternational certificate English language courses designed for people with English language skills at CEFR B2 level or higher can be used towards a UNIversInternational certification (module ‘English Language Skills’). Interested? Read more at https://go.uniwue.de/universinternational.

Language of instruction The course will be taught entirely in English.
Topics to be covered Discussions, role plays and a range of other activities will give you the opportunity to practise your speaking and listening skills. You will become familiar with different dialects of the English language and, if you wish, will be given the opportunity to build up a specialist vocabulary relating to your field of work as well as to learn some general idioms, expressions and advanced-level grammar.

Central Administration staff: course fee to be paid by Unit 4.5
Non-academic staff employed at Faculties or Central Institutions at JMU: €60
External attendees: €120
