Your Advantages

The public transport timetables have now been adapted to the opening hours of the university library. This means you can get home easily even after the library closes.

  • In future, line 6 will run 4 rides across the campus to "Juliuspromenade" in the evening.
  • Line 114 has been extended in the evening – the last ride to the main station ZOB leaves at 11:08 p.m.
  • Line 29 runs from "Hubland TGZ" at 11:43 p.m. and at 00:13 a.m. to the main station ZOB.
  • There are 4 additional late-night rides on line 10 from Monday to Friday. These rides are available throughout the semester, including during the carnival, Easter, Whitsun and autumn holidays:
    • 11:43 p.m.
    • 11:13 p.m.
    • 11:43 p.m.
    • 00:43 a.m.

During the day, the next bus to the main station ZOB or campus comes every 7 minutes. In the evening, the next bus arrives approximately every 15 minutes.

  • Lines 114, 214 and 14 are now coordinated from "Hauptbahnhof ZOB" and "Philosophische Fakultät" and depart regularly from there.
  • Line 10 also continues to run every 7 or 8 minutes and every 15 or 30 minutes in the evening.

Students can now also get to early lectures and events on campus conveniently by bus. There are twice as many connections at peak times.

  • There is a 15-minute interval on line 29 between 07:00 a.m. and 08:00 a.m. and in the evenings between 04:00 p.m. and 06:00 p.m. There are now 3 additional rides on line 10 from the "Sanderring" stop:
    • 07:27 a.m.
    • 07:34 a.m.
    • 07:42 a.m.

Lines 10 and 29 now form a direct connection to the main station and Sanderring – no need to change buses.

  • In future, line 10 will become line 29 on every fourth ride and then continue to the main station. Conversely, every line 29 coming from the main station will continue as line 10 from the "Hubland TGZ" stop to Sanderring.

Line 10 now also offers good connections to the campus during the school holidays. Holiday services during the carnival, Easter, Whitsun and autumn holidays as well as evening services have been greatly improved and extended. This means that the frequency remains the same throughout the lecture period. The next bus arrives every 7 minutes.

  • The route of line 29 at the "Nord" campus site is now easier to remember as it is standardised.
  • The route of line 29 at the "Nord" campus site has been standardised and redesigned. This means there is no more confusion about which bus departs where and when. Buses now always leave from the same point in the direction of the city.
  • Line 10 has also been adapted to provide a more direct connection and in future will only run every second ride (every 15 minutes) to the Campus Hubland Nord.

  • In the evening, line 6 provides a direct connection to the "Juliuspromenade" stop.
  • Line 6 runs Monday to Sundayincluding during the holidaysfrom 10:59 p.m. with 4 rides via the campus area (tunnel stop "Universitätsbibliothek A") and on towards the city centre.

  • Line 29 is linked to the "Würzburg-Takt". This creates secure connections without long waiting times.

  • The "Würzburg-Takt" coordinates tram services with bus lines 6, 12, and 29. Further lines will follow. This makes it easy and convenient to change between modes of transport at key hubs (e.g., Sanderring, Juliuspromenade, main station ZOB).

On Sundays, there will be twice as many connections on line 29 to the city, the campus and the recreation area at Hubland.

  • Line 29 runs more than twice as often on Sundays between 11:00 a.m. and 06:00 p.m. – a total increase of approximately 60% in service.

The WVV Mobility Partnership

As part of the mobility partnership, WVV, WSB, NVM, Studierendenwerk and the student representatives of Würzburg's universities regularly exchange information on the organisation of mobility services for students in Würzburg.

The mobility partnership is coordinated by the student representatives of the University of Würzburg.

The aim of this partnership is to better understand the mobility needs of students and to adapt the public transport services as best as possible to the wishes of the students within the given possibilities. In particular, changes in mobility needs should be recognised in good time and incorporated into timetable planning at an early stage.

FAQ

In the area of the campus and the "campus lines" there will be changes to

  • the timetable and departure times
  • connections
  • bus stop names

In addition, a standardised routing of the lines will be implemented, i.e. the buses will always travel towards the city at the same point.

At the suggestion of and in consultation with student representatives, it became apparent that there is a need to optimise the bus network due to the strong growth of the campus. In addition, major construction work and remodelling of the campus area is imminent and the campus is to become car-free in the future. This is why the traffic routing has now been changed and the bus routes improved.

You can find out all about your benefits in the WVV flyer(German only).

The new departure times and timetables are available in real time in the WVVmobil app. You can download it for free from the Google Play Store or App Store.
By the way: In the app, you can also easily buy the Deutschlandticket Studium as an upgrade to the semester ticket.

Printed timetables will be available in the customer centre from 25.08.25.

The whole of Würzburg will run step by step in the "Würzburg-Takt". This means that connections are coordinated and guaranteed. There will be standardised departure times and routes that are easy to remember (even at weekends and in the evenings).

The first step towards the "Würzburg-Takt" was taken in 2021 with BUSNETZ+, followed in 2023 by the "Straba-City-Takt", which is currently operated with 2 lines.

Now it continues in Dürrbachtal and Hubland, especially at the campus. From 16 September 2025, bus lines 6, 10, 13 and 29 will be revised and adapted to the new "Würzburg-Takt". Lines 28, 114 and 214 will receive timetable changes – but have not yet been adapted to the "Würzburg-Takt". This will take place at a later date.

This is because some stops had incorrect or ambiguous names, which led to confusion. The new names are intended to avoid this. For example, the stop "Am Hubland" will become "Campusbrücke" and the stop "Philosophisches Institut" will become "Philosophische Fakultät."

  • Longer evening connections to the Hubland Campus via lines 6, 10 and 114.
  • More regular intervals for a reliable bus service throughout term time: to and from the university.
  • More journeys on line 10 at peak times before 08:00 a.m.
  • Clear bus stop names and better bus stop facilities on the Hubland Campus.

No. You can use your semester ticket for all rides of the bus services to campus as usual. The bus services to campus are financed cost-neutrally through savings on other rides. These are cancelled due to low demand or planned construction sites. The introduction of the bus services to campus therefore has no effect on the price of the semester ticket.

The routing of line 29 is being changed at Hubland Nord at the request of residents. This means that the bus connection there is standardised and consistent.

For a regular service throughout the day (together with line 14) and a longer connection to the central library and campus in the evening.

The departure times of line 114 are changing to ensure regular service to lines 14 and 214 at Hubland and the main station. Lines 10 and 114 will also run later into the evening and therefore serve Wittelsbacherplatz for longer. In addition, morning and afternoon rides have been added to both lines.

To enable a direct line change with line 29; the accessibility of the language centre is still guaranteed by the line change to line 29.

Yes, this is generally possible for all rides at the end of which the ride of another line begins. This can be recognised when the other line is shown in the interior display at the "Hubland TGZ" stop. In addition, the bus then travels directly to the "Hubland TGZ" stop and does not first make a U-turn via Landsteinerstraße.

As some roads will no longer be reliably passable in future due to planned roadworks at Hubland Nord.

Only the old stops in Hubland Nord will be cancelled: "Bibliothekszentrum", "Oswald-Külpe-Weg" and "Sprachenzentrum". The alternatives are "Emil-Fischer-Straße", "Skyline-Hill-Center" or the new (or relocated) stops "Sprachenzentrum" and "Campus Hubland Nord".

The city of Würzburg is still planning to build the tram to Hubland.

The student representatives of the University of Würzburg are committed to improving public transport throughout Würzburg and the surrounding area. You can reach them at stuv-mobilitaet@uni-wuerzburg.de.
