Cancellation of degree programmes
Notes
The cancellation of a degree programme means that no new students will initially be enrolled on this degree programme for the first or higher semester.
However, students who are already enrolled must be given the opportunity to complete their studies (protection of confidence). In addition, the cancellation therefore also means that the range of courses and examinations for this degree programme will be maintained and study and examination regulations will cease to apply after a transitional period.
The transitional period generally covers the respective standard period of study of the cancelled degree programme or subject plus any additional semesters.

When so-called regulated degree programmes (e.g. state examination study programmes, dual study programmes with integrated vocational training) are cancelled, the completed university degree is not the only prerequisite for entering a profession. Rather, there are other requirements under professional admission law that must be reviewed by the relevant state authorities.
Representatives of the locally responsible diocese or regional church must be involved in the cancellation of degree courses in Catholic or Protestant theology.
In both cases, the Study Programme Development Office ensures that the relevant bodies are involved in good time.
