Student ambassadors as a bridge between school and university

A co-operation with Handwerkskammer Service GmbH and the Federal Employment Agency.

Our student ambassadors introduce themselves

The student ambassadors are students from the various study programmes at the University of Würzburg. They present their degree programme in the upper secondary school.

In study information talks, the students describe how they found their degree programme, their subject and the University of Würzburg. They inform the pupils about the requirements and content of the respective degree programmes and answer all questions about studying and the city of Würzburg.

This gives pupils the direct opportunity to ask questions about the content of their degree programme, study requirements and student life.

Since 2010, uni@school has been running at the University of Würzburg in cooperation with Handwerkskammer Service GmbH and the Employment Agency with the aim of supporting secondary school pupils in their study orientation.

In addition to the existing counselling services offered by the Central Student Advisory Service, the specialist study counselling services and the careers advice service of the Employment Agency, the project offers pupils an additional opportunity to prepare for their choice of studies and give them an insight into various subjects.

In addition to the two project coordinators, the team also includes around 30 students from various departments at the University of Würzburg. Some of the students themselves benefited from the uni@school programme as pupils and are now happy to pass on their experiences.

The study ambassadors are also happy to come to your school. The offer for schools is free of charge. The study information talks can be easily integrated into the timetable as part of the project seminars on study and career guidance. It is also possible to use them in the respective subject-related lessons. Of course, our students are also available for study and career information events.

Expectations regarding the content of the study ambassadors' presentations will be discussed in advance with the sixth form coordinators or course leaders and taken into account.

Digital school attendance at the school

  • Digital school visit is implemented like a face-to-face school visit at the school
  • Pupils divide themselves between the rooms and contact the study ambassadors via video chat
  • The school is responsible for the organisation and the necessary technical equipment

Digital school visit from home

  • Students enter the video chat room from home (created by the study ambassadors)
  • The study ambassadors share their presentation with the students, the lecture or discussion is conducted in exactly the same way as at school
  • The accesses are sent to the teacher in advance by e-mail for forwarding to the students (with links)
  • Teachers can also enter and check attendance or give a "homework assignment" in advance to ensure that the students actually attend
  • Offers planning security, as it can be implemented both in the event of alternating lessons or complete school closure

From biochemistry to museology to dentistry, everything is included. Around 30 students from various faculties at the University of Würzburg work as study ambassadors to present their degree programme during the almost 70 school visits per year.

We will be happy to discuss with you individually which subjects will come to your school.
