At the interface between the university and the global job market, the Career Centre offers all students a comprehensive programme of events across all faculties from the very first semester along the student life cycle. This enables them to expand the skills they have acquired in their degree programme with important career-relevant skills. We also offer various counselling formats to help students make a smooth and level-appropriate career start.
- Tips and help with planning a study abroad programme
- as well as information for international applicants and students who would like to start a degree programme at the University of Würzburg or are already enrolled here,
can be obtained from the Service Centre International Affairs.
The KOMPASS tutoring and mentoring programme at the University of Würzburg aims to reduce the drop-out rate among students in the introductory phase of their studies and improve their academic performance. To this end, student tutors and mentors in higher semesters are prepared for their tasks through professionalised training: the tutors for their student teaching and the mentors for the guidance and counselling of young students in the first 2-3 semesters.
The coordinators at your faculty will be happy to help with any questions regarding tutorials and mentoring.
In mentoring, working alumni advise students or doctoral candidates at the university.
A mentor passes on their experience from their studies and career to their mentee in a personal tandem relationship. For example, the mentor supports the mentee with their final thesis, career entry (cover letter, etc.) or the search for an internship.
In discussions, the mentor can also provide other career-related information, for example on the skills and abilities an applicant should have if they want to work in the respective industry.
There is a counselling service for school leavers and students who are unsure about their future career orientation or choice of degree subject: Orientation counselling. In a personal discussion, for example, professional interests and skills can be worked out together and the advantages and disadvantages of various alternatives can be considered.
