Intercultural Competence and Social Diversity

11/04/2025

A new series of courses on intercultural competence and social diversity starts on Thursday, 13 November. It is open to students, lecturers and external persons.

Students on all degree programmes repeatedly express the wish to their lecturers that they would like to develop their intercultural and diversity-conscious skills. The "Intercultural Competence in Special Needs Education" series of events aims to fulfil this wish in the winter semester 2025/26.

"The events are not only aimed at teacher training and special education students, but explicitly at all students, lecturers and interested parties outside the university," says Johanna Lawall from the Chair of Special Education in the Context of Emotional and Behavioural Disorders at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU). The chair is organising the series in cooperation with the GSiK (Global Systems and Intercultural Competence) teaching project.

The workshops and lectures cover a wide range of topics relating to intercultural competences, social diversity, social problems and experiences of discrimination.

Where and How to Register

The one-and-a-half to two-hour events are open to all interested parties free of charge. JMU students can receive one point for their GSiK certificate for each participation; they should register for the workshops via WueStudy (event number 05048740).

External interested parties should register by e-mail to Johanna Lawall, johanna.lawall@uni-wuerzburg.de
