The talk will be held in German.

In the second "Lunchtalk – From the practice of cultural mediation" of the winter semester 2025/2026, we immerse ourselves in the world of (serious) games.

Anne Sauer has been working at the interface of media education, game development and cultural mediation since 2009. As a game designer, she designs and realises digital games for museums, educational institutions and memorial sites (e.g. Playing History). Her projects in the field of history education include the award-winning titles "Herbst 89" about the Peaceful Revolution in Leipzig, "Spuren auf Papier" about the murder of the sick under National Socialism and "Tribunal 45" about the main Nuremberg war crimes trials.

We meet her for a digital exchange in which she provides insights into the practical work of game development: from didactic considerations and historical sensitivities to narrative design, project organisation and interdisciplinary collaboration. How can historical topics be made tangible through play? What opportunities and challenges does the medium of games offer in educational work? How is a serious game developed from the initial idea to the finished game?
