30.05.2025

The Career Centre offers dedicated support for international students – from orientation and integration to career planning and job applications in Germany.

1. Virtual Exchange: Global Circle

This Global Circle takes place from June 16 to June 27.

Topic 1: Beauty standards and cultural diversity: How can we fight homogenization?

What are beauty standards in your country? Should some standards define beauty? How are beauty perceptions influenced by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age or other cultural norms? Do beauty standards objectify women? Is men’s beauty perceived in the same way as women? In what ways do social media, traditional media, and globalization impact our perception of beauty? What steps can we take to actively address and combat body shaming?

Topic 2: Intergenerational Relations: How do we bridge the gap?

How different are young people today from their parents and grandparents? How different is the world today than it was one or two generations ago? How are education, work or relationships different? How do we coexist as generations? Where do misunderstandings come from? What are the cultural perceptions of aging in your country? Do modernization, the internet, and social media impact our perceptions of aging?

3. From Setback to Comeback – Exploring the power of resilience

Life is full of ups and downs. Whether it's personal setbacks, academic pressure, or uncertainty about the future — we all encounter moments that challenge our emotional strength. How we respond to these moments can shape our wellbeing, our motivation, and even our relationships.

That’s why it’s so important to develop effective mental strategies and sustainable habits for dealing with difficult times. This seminar invites you to take a step back and reflect:

  • How do I currently cope with stress and adversity?
  • Which inner resources do I already have?
  • What strategies could I add to my personal toolkit?

In a safe and interactive group setting, we will explore different dimensions of resilience — from emotional awareness and mindset to practical techniques for staying grounded and resourceful. You’ll have the chance to share experiences (only if you wish), try out new perspectives, and strengthen your capacity to face life’s challenges with more confidence.

Date: Wednesday, 17 September 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
