University Seeks People With Fibromyalgia
11/18/2025Can mindfulness improve the management of chronic pain? To answer this question, the University of Würzburg is looking for people with a confirmed fibromyalgia diagnosis.
The University of Würzburg is currently testing a free, scientifically led online programme designed to help people with fibromyalgia to cope better with chronic pain and improve their quality of life.
The programme lasts eight weeks. It is based on mindfulness-based methods that have been proven to help reduce pain intensity, stress, anxiety and depression.
Under professional guidance, participants learn in small groups to develop a new, more conscious and, above all, self-directed way of dealing with pain using short meditations, breathing techniques, gentle movement exercises and other mindfulness exercises.
Conditions of Participation
People with medically diagnosed fibromyalgia can take part in the study. It is necessary to regularly take part in the weekly online group sessions, which last around 2.5 hours each. It is also necessary to be prepared to practise at home and complete questionnaires for evaluation.
