FAQs

This page contains answers to questions frequently asked about assessments in the Aerospace Information Technology programme leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (the list is being added to on an ongoing basis). If your question is not sufficiently answered, please contact the Examination Office!

Registering for assessments

No, you can’t! The registration deadlines for assessments are preclusive periods. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Transcript of records (lists of passed modules and module components)

This may happen if you had credits earned in another programme transferred towards your degree or if you changed from an older version of the applicable examination regulations to a more recent one (this will happen only upon your request). If that is the case, please check the list of the modules you have passed . If this list is correct, no credits are missing. If the list is incorrect, too, please contact the Examination Office immediately. We will then correct it.

Theses

You and your reviewer will have to propose a start date on the request form. If the chairperson of the examination committee gives their approval for this date, the due date for the submission of your thesis will be exactly ten weeks after it. The Examination Office will enter your due date into the WueStudy system, and you will find it in the list of the assessments for which you have registered. It may take up to one week after you submit your request for the date to appear in the system.

If your proposed start date is not approved, the Examination Office will let you know.

The Examination Office is closed on weekends, nationwide public holidays in Germany and public holidays in Bavaria. If your due date for submission falls on a weekend or public holiday, you can submit your thesis to the Examination Office at any time before the due date or on the first normal working day after the due date. Please be aware of our office hours. If in doubt, please check with the Examination Office as soon as possible!

Graduation documents

The Examination Office will not be notified automatically when you have earned your 180 ECTS credits. Also, remember that you have the option to earn additional credits during the remainder of the semester. Therefore, you will need to submit your request to be issued with graduation documents to the Examination Office as soon as you want your graduation documents to be prepared. Please make sure you provide your email address on the request form. You will receive an email notification from us when your graduation documents are ready for you to collect.

Maximum length of programme

The standard length of the Bachelor’s programme in Aerospace Information Technology is six semesters. The examination regulations provide that you are permitted to exceed this standard length by two semesters. After that, you will be deemed to have failed your first attempt to successfully complete your degree. After one additional semester, you will be required to terminate the programme with no award.

The section below tells you what the Examination Office will do at the end of the semesters in question if you have not completed your degree yet:

At the end of your 6th semester: no reaction from the Examination Office

At the end of your 7th semester: no reaction from the Examination Office

At the end of your 8th semester:
If you have submitted your Bachelor’s thesis already: You will receive a letter from the Examination Office informing you that you have failed your first attempt to successfully complete your degree. This letter will have no effect on the ECTS credits you have already completed or are yet to complete. The purpose of the letter is to let you know that you have only one more semester to complete your degree!

If you haven’t submitted your Bachelor’s thesis yet: You will receive a letter from the Examination Office informing you that you have failed your first attempt to successfully complete your degree. This letter will tell you that you are deemed to have failed your first attempt at your Bachelor’s thesis (which means that you will have only one more attempt at it!!!). The letter will have no effect on any of the other ECTS credits you have already completed or are yet to complete. In addition, the letter will let you know that you have only one more semester to complete your degree!

At the end of your 9th semester: You will receive a letter from the Examination Office informing you that you will be required to terminate the programme with no award.

(Since you have until the end of each of these semesters to complete your degree, you will not receive these letters until the beginning of the subsequent semester. However, this will have no effect on your status as having failed your first attempt to successfully complete your degree or being required to terminate the programme with no award – even if you have previously successfully re-enrolled to continue your studies in your 10th semester. Please read the information provided by Student Affairs about fee refunds!)

Can these deadlines be extended?

The examination committee may grant you an extension, provided that your failure to meet the original deadline is for reasons beyond your control. You may submit your request for the extension of the submission deadline for your Bachelor’s thesis during your 8th subject semester. Requests for the extension of your maximum length of programme cannot be submitted until you are halfway into your 9th subject semester.
