How is Artificial Intelligence Changing our Society?

11/11/2025

Everyone is talking about AI. What opportunities does the new technology bring? What risks does it harbour? Three experts will be exploring these questions at the Schelling Forum on Thursday, 20 November 2025.

Gekommen, um zu bleiben. In kurzer Zeit hat KI den Weg in unsere Gesellschaft gefunden. Über Potenziale und Risiken diskutieren Expertinnen im Schelling-Forum.

Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of our everyday lives - millions of people use chatbots to obtain information and opinions or have them write texts for them. The areas of application and hopes for technological innovations are high: in hospitals, for example, AI-supported analysis tools are increasingly supporting diagnoses and in road traffic, AI is expected to enable autonomous driving. These developments raise fundamental ethical, social and legal questions:

To what extent is artificial intelligence changing our society? What opportunities and risks do AI-supported technologies entail, for example in the field of medicine? What do these developments mean for individuals? And what challenges are faced by politicians in neighbouring Germany and France, but also globally?

These and other questions will be explored by the evening's moderator, Professor Ruth Horn, together with science and technology researcher Professor Ruth Müller and legal scholar Professor Elsa Supiot.

The event is organised in cooperation with the Ambassade de France, Bureau de Coopération Universitaire et Service pour la Science et la Technologie.
