The City of Würzburg's Environmental Station donated it, the Technical Centre helped set it up and Timo Stiller, a student of social science sustainability research and project coordinator of the "W(u)eShare" transformation experiment, supplied it with shelves and equipped it with the first swap items: The exchange cabinet is now located in front of Building 22 (Emil-Hilb-Weg 22) on Hubland North Campus and is waiting for as many people as possible to offer items for loan and exchange.

The official "starting signal" will be given by those responsible, the team of the student experiment, as part of the Public Climate School on Wednesday, 26 November at 2.30 pm - first at the cabinet itself and then in the seminar room of the WueLAB. All interested parties are invited to attend.

The W(u)eShare Experiment

The idea behind the student transformation experiment “W(u)eShare” is to offer items for exchange in special cabinets. The aim is to try out new, sustainable consumption practices in line with the “shared economy” concept, which is characterized by the shared use of items. The project is supported technically and financially by the WueLAB sustainability laboratory at the University of Würzburg. The project team is considering continuing the project with the installation of cabinets for renting sports and play equipment that encourage or require shared use and thus promote social interaction. The team is still looking for supporters who would like to look after and organise the cupboard. Anyone interested can get in touch here: wueshare@uni-wuerzburg.de

Further Swap Offers on Campus

There are several opportunities for sharing and swapping at WueLAB. There is a "plant exchange shelf" on the third floor of the WueLAB building, run by FÖJ volunteer Viktoria Huber. Members of the university can hand in office plants there or obtain new specimens. The "Anton" cargo bike can also be borrowed from WueLAB. Since January 2025, the university's sustainability lab has also been a hire station for the Würzburg Free Cargo Bike Initiative.
