Bachelor-/Masterarbeiten

We are currently searching for a highly motivated:

Bachelor/ Master student
(Biology / Biomedicine / Biochemistry)

to work with us on
time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy of G-protein coupled receptors in live cells
further developing
Mirror-enhanced Fluorescence

In a cross-disciplinary approach we combine the concepts of fluorescence time resolved spectroscopy with tricks from material sciences.

The project involves optimization of the conditions to boosting the molecular brightness for dual color fluorescence cross correlation spectroscopy (FCCS) on nanocoated coverslips. The main goal is to uncover fast dynamics of the ß2-Adrenergic receptor by Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) and FCCS. Here, every photon counts! Our lab has already established special coatings that serve as cell substrates yielding higher molecular brightness. You will establish robust protocols to use this approach to study molecular dynamics in artificial lipid bilayers and live cells. You have enthusiasm for biomolecular sciences and fluorescence microscopy. A good command of English is mandatory as you will be working in an international team. Previous experience with artificial membrane and/or advanced microscopic techniques is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
