KISKER Gruppe

Die Mehrzahl aller Tumore ist auf genetische Schädigungen zurück zu führen. Die Nukleotid-Exzisions-Reparatur ist neben anderen Reparatursystemen für die Erhaltung der korrekten genetischen Information essentiell. Dieses System zeichnet sich auch dadurch aus, dass es DNA-Schädigungen unterschiedlicher Größe reparieren kann. Wir analysieren den Mechanismus der Nukleotid-Exzisions-Reparatur und versuchen zu erklären, wie unterschiedliche Schädigungen erkannt und erfolgreich repariert werden. 

DNA-Reparatur und Drug Design

Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt unserer Arbeitsgruppe ist das "Structure Based Drug Design" gegen pathogene humane Erreger, zum Beispiel im Rahmen der Tuberkuloseforschung, aber auch gegen Staphylococcus aureusYersinia pestis oder Burkholderia. Durch die starke Zunahme von Erregern, die gegen existierende Antibiotika resistent sind, ist die Entwicklung neuer Wirkstoffe dringend geboten.
