Dr. Ute Symanski

I am Dr. Ute Symanski – author, lecturer, supervisor, conflict manager, and coach. As a science and policy advisor, I work primarily with university administrators and leaders in the scientific community, politics, and administration. I have almost 30 years of experience in science management and have held various positions as a manager and project manager (including at TU Dortmund University, RWTH Aachen University, and DAAD). I am a communications scientist (Magistra Artium, WWU Münster), hold a doctorate in organizational sociology (Dr. phil., RWTH Aachen), and am a coach, moderator, certified conflict manager, and solution-focused consultant. I regularly publish articles on human resources and organizational development and am a lecturer in coaching at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. I also work as an expert reviewer (including for the DFG, DAAD, and Stifterverband). The topic of sustainability is particularly close to my heart: among other things, I am a member of the jury for the German Sustainability Award (DNP), a member of the German Society for Sustainability at Universities (DGHochN), and have been appointed to the advisory board of netzwerk n. I also started the podcast project #SciencemanagersForFuture, founded futurWIR, and am a member of Coachingnetz Wissenschaft e.V., the Science Management Network, and the Society for Higher Education Research.
