Open Science Policy

The Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU Würzburg) regards the generation of knowledge across all academic disciplines, and its dissemination to the scholarly community, students, and the wider public, as a core institutional mission. The University is committed to the principle that research funded by public resources should be made openly accessible worldwide, without restriction, for the benefit of both science and society.

In this context, JMU Würzburg endorses the principles of Open Science. Open Science promotes the opening of the entire research, communication, teaching, and learning cycle, fostering greater exchange, transparency, reusability, and reproducibility. This includes the responsible management of research data, as well as sustainable and unrestricted access to scholarly publications and knowledge.

Research outputs, documentation of research processes, and teaching materials produced at JMU Würzburg should be made permanently and openly accessible, thereby maximising their visibility and impact.
