In June and July of this year, the citizens' council "Würzburger Zukunftsrat" (Würzburg Future Council) met to discuss the topic of "Fair mobility in Würzburg". 35 citizens of the city, who had previously been selected by an anonymised lottery, shared their perspectives and experiences on the topic and developed a total of 15 recommendations.

To this end, the participants assigned themselves to thematically divided small groups in the areas of local public transport, cycling, private motorised transport, walking and communication & information. Each group ultimately came up with three recommendations, which were then discussed, adapted and agreed in plenary.

These recommendations have now been prepared in the form of an expert report as part of an editorial meeting consisting of voluntary participants from the Future Council. This report will be presented to the Würzburg City Council on 13 November 2025 - in the hope that the recommendations will be taken into account.

The "Zukunftsrat"

The Würzburger Zukunftsrat is a transformation experiment organised by the sustainability laboratory WueLAB at the University of Würzburg, which is also supported by the Bürgerstiftung Würzburg und Umgebung, the Würzburger Umwelt- und Naturstiftung, memo AG and the City of Würzburg. Under the direction of Ulrike Zeigermann, Professor of Social Science Sustainability Research, the project is being carried out and researched by a transdisciplinary team.
