Würzburg Kellergespräche on femicides

Femicides, the killing of women and girls because of their gender, are the topic of the "Würzburger Kellergespräche" (Cellar Talks) on 28 April 2026. The day before, professor Eric Hilgendorf will give an introductory lecture on the subject.

The topic of "femicide" continues to attract a great deal of interest in the mass media, politics and academia. Now the "Würzburger Kellergespräche" are also taking up the topic.

Public lecture

First of all, Professor Eric Hilgendorf will give an overview of the academic and legal-political debate on femicide on Monday, 27 April. Hilgendorf holds the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Legal Theory, Information Law and Legal Informatics at the University of Würzburg. The public lecture will take place in Lecture Hall 1 of the Old University, Domerschulstraße, starting at 6.15 pm.

Panel discussion in the Max Stern Keller

On Tuesday, 28 April, the discussion will take place in the Max Stern Cellar of the Old University from 7.00 pm. The speakers are:

  • Florian Rebmann (co-author of the new Tübingen femicide study)
  • Dr Tamina Preuß (Faculty of Law at the University of Würzburg)
  • Nadine Weiß (Chief Superintendent of Police and Commissioner for Victims of Crime Würzburg)
  • Brigitte Stemmler (President of the Zonta Club Würzburg and retired judge)

There will be an opportunity for discussion afterwards. Registration is not required for either event.

Würzburger Kellergespräche

The Würzburger Kellergespräche address current and socially relevant topics, bring together experts and practitioners and offer space for questions, exchange and debate. The aim is to stimulate public discourse and shed light on controversial topics from different perspectives.

The series of events is organised by Juristen Alumni e.V. and the Main-Post, moderated by Andreas Jungbauer.
