Public Climate School: Making education for sustainability visible

All JMU lecturers are invited to highlight the topic of sustainability in their courses during the Public Climate School, which will take place from 9 to 15 November 2026.

From 9 to 15 November 2026, the Public Climate School (PCS) will take place across Germany. Under the motto ‘Learning, understanding and taking action together’, colleges and universities will explore topics relating to education for sustainable development. In addition to nationwide digital events, the programme will be complemented by numerous local initiatives.

Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) is taking part in the action week for the fifth time. In doing so, it is sending a further signal in support of sustainable development in research and teaching. The WueLAB sustainability laboratory is coordinating the local activities.

Teaching staff are invited to get involved

As WueLAB explains, as part of the Public Climate School, lecturers from all faculties can open their courses to interested participants and give them a sustainable focus.

They decide for themselves to what extent sustainability topics are integrated – ranging from a single discussion question or thematic focus points to the complete adaptation of a course. Extracurricular activities for a supporting programme of events are also welcome.

Register events with WueLAB

WueLAB is compiling a list of all participating seminars, lectures and other events to create a joint programme for students, university members and the public.

Anyone wishing to take part should submit the title, date and venue of their planned contribution via an online form by 25 October 2026.
