The German aerospace society DGLR recognizes the contributions of Professor Schilling and his team to the field of small satellites with the prestigious Eugen-Sänger-medal.

ESA General Director Aschbacher signed together with Prof. Dr. Schilling as President of Zentrum für Telematik (ZfT) a "Memorandum of Cooperation" to initiate an ESA_Lab@ZfT .

In 2019 ESA asked for ideas to map and explore lunar caves on their Open Space

Innovation Platform. A consortium of international scientists led by Prof. Dr.

Andreas Nüchter (Informatics VII - Robotics and Telematics) submitted their idea

of a spherical robot equipped with an immersive stereoscopic camera and a lidar

system.

The four NetSat satellites for formation flying were built in Würzburg and financed by the European Research Council with an Advanced Grant. The launch was supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economics and happened on 28.9.2020. More detailed information: www.telematik-zentrum.de/netsat

Innovative Sensor Networks Based on Self-Organizing Nano-Satellites is the topic of "NetSat". The four „NetSat“ nano-satellites will autonomously control, for the first time worldwide, a three-dimensional configuration in space in order to enable new observation methods for climate research as well as for innovative future telecommunication systems.

To learn more about the practice of operating a satellite mission, our SaTec students visited the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt.

On February 26th, at 09:59:00 UTC, one of the UWE-4 NanoFEEP thrusters was successfully ignited.

In the early morning of 27.12.2018 a Soyuz-Fregatt launch from cosmodrome Vostochny injected 28 satellites into a low Earth orbit.

Last week our Team returned from the Vostochny Launch Site (Russia) where we performed the last check out tests of UWE-4 before launch. The satellite will be launched through the German integrator ECM Space on a Soyuz-2 mission using a Fregat upper stage on 27th December 2018 at 02:07:18 UTC.

The Bavarian Minister of Science and the Arts, Dr. Spaenle, approved 2 new elite study programs in science and technology among them our proposal "Satellite Technology"

On 21st of November 2017 UWE-3 celebrated 4 years in space and is still running without any significant failures. The daily received UWE-3 beacons report its good health condition, including the nominal status of the batteries.

Our spin-off Zentrum für Telematik was in a tough selection of international teams selected as winner of the Airbus space challenge. Their proposal addressed innovative industry 4.0 approaches to improve future production of satellites.
