Congratulations from the University Council
03/07/2024The University of Würzburg was successful in the first round of the Excellence Strategy with one of its submitted research outlines. The University Council has now congratulated the University Board.
"Excellence Strategy: Success for the University of Würzburg": This is the headline of a press release issued by Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) on 2 February 2024, when it was clear that a JMU project on nucleic acid research and technologies had qualified for the next step in the competition for prestigious science funding from the German federal and state governments.
At its meeting on 4 March 2024, the JMU University Council congratulated the University Board on this success. Margret Wintermantel, Chairwoman of the University Council, considers the performance in this prestigious excellence competition to be remarkable. This makes the University of Würzburg one of the only universities in Bavaria, alongside the two Munich Universities of Excellence, to have retained its chance of being able to submit an application in the "Universities of Excellence" funding line if it continues to perform successfully in this competition. The University Council congratulated them on this and assured them of its support wherever possible.
Margret Wintermantel has headed the JMU University Council since June 2021. In December 2023, its members confirmed her in office. Her second term of office begins on 1 April 2024.
