Entrepreneurship: ZENTRIA 2.0, a supplementary degree programme, is underway

Students who wish to learn about entrepreneurial thinking and practice, work across disciplines and forge links with the start-up ecosystem can apply for the ZENTRIA 2.0 supplementary programme by 15 September.

How do you find the right team to bring a business idea to life? What skills are needed to overcome the day-to-day challenges of setting up a business? How does an idea become a project that can stand the test of time even outside the university?

JMU students who would like to explore these questions should take a closer look at the ZENTRIA 2.0 supplementary programme, which runs over three semesters. It brings together students from different disciplines and universities. It is run by the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (JMU), the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt and the University of Applied Sciences Aschaffenburg.

New teaching formats, even more practical experience

ZENTRIA was first launched in the summer semester of 2025. It has been comprehensively further developed for its latest edition – hence the name ZENTRIA 2.0.

The programme not only introduces students to the theory of entrepreneurship, but also to the demands of the real world: they work in interdisciplinary teams, develop their own ideas further and tackle real-world challenges posed by companies and other clients.

ZENTRIA 2.0 features newly designed teaching formats, including a start-up hackathon in which business ideas are developed under realistic conditions. In another format, participants work together through the entire cycle of a real-world service project – from responding to a tender, through presenting concepts to actual clients, right through to implementation.

Another new feature is the focus on aspects that are often overlooked in day-to-day business life, such as neurodiversity, self-management and mental resilience. Students learn to consciously utilise their individual strengths and ways of thinking, to realise their personal potential and to confidently overcome challenges in everyday business life.

Applications are now open until mid-September

ZENTRIA 2.0 launches in the 2026/27 winter semester. The application portal is open from now until 15 September 2026. The supplementary programme lasts three semesters and concludes with a certificate.
