Würzburg dentistry students honoured
01/13/2026The specialist journal Quintessenz Endodontie honours outstanding root canal treatments performed by students with the "Goldene Hedström-Feile". This year, the award went to dental students from Würzburg.
Medi Biberova, Sophie Bruchmann and Nina Stützel achieved excellent root canal treatments in the winter semester 2024/2025 and during their state examination in 2025 respectively. The editors of the specialist journal Quintessenz Endodontie therefore honoured the Würzburg dentistry students with the "Goldene Hedström-Feile". Dentists use the eponymous dental instrument to clean and widen root canals.
The award, which is accompanied by a book prize, is intended to motivate young dentists to perform outstanding endodontic treatments during their studies. A total of 20 students from Germany and Switzerland received the award, with the Centre for Oral and Maxillofacial Health (ZMK) at the University Hospital of Würzburg being the only institution with three winners this year.
Professor Gabriel Krastl, Managing Director of the ZMK, warmly congratulated the students on their award-winning achievements and commented: "The awards make us proud in two ways. On the one hand, they are proof of the excellent teaching offered at the Würzburg Dental Clinic. Secondly, they honour the high quality that our patients can rely on when it comes to student treatment."
