How can sustainability topics be communicated creatively and made tangible? This was the question addressed by the "Designing sustainability" seminar at the University of Würzburg in the summer semester of 2025. The seminar was organised by the sustainability laboratory WueLAB, in which students from various disciplines developed creative ideas and a concept. The "Gesunde Hochschule" was involved in the subsequent implementation.

Since this summer, the results can be seen (and walked on) at the Hubland Campus: the interactive wall and the barefoot path. Both are intended to be a place and an opportunity for scientific research, teaching and information about sustainability and the WueLAB. They can be found in the immediate vicinity of Building 22, where the WueLAB is located.

Time and Place

On Tuesday, 21 October 2025, from 3.30 pm, all interested parties are invited to come to the corner of Beatrice-Edgell-Weg and Emil-Hilb-Weg 22 for about an hour and take a closer look at the objects. Of course, there is also the opportunity to walk around the barefoot path. Those responsible were able to access the university's property for its design: The Sailershausen University Forest contributed wooden discs, tree pieces, cones and bark mulch.

At the opening ceremony on 21 October, the WueLAB, the seminar participants and the Gesunde Hochschule will be on site and available for networking and discussions. There will also be little surprises for guests around the "hands-on wall". In case of bad weather, the event will take place on the premises of the WueLAB, Emil-Hilb-Weg 22.
