The "Scientific Perspectives on Sustainability" series kicked off for the fifth time in the Botanic Garden. The WueLAB sustainability laboratory is offering the series together with the University Didactics Department at the Centre for Teaching and Learning as part of the "Higher Education for Sustainable Development" certificate programme. Five more events will follow in May and June; registration is still possible.

At the start of the programme, participants were given an insight into key basic principles of sustainable development and discussed current challenges and perspectives. The focus was on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the concept of planetary boundaries and social thresholds, which serve as guidelines for a sustainable and just future.

Presentations and dialogue created space to explore and critically classify approaches to socio-ecological transformation and develop initial ideas for sustainable practices.
