Tandem Days at the University

09/29/2026

Spend a day shadowing students as they go about their daily lives at university: prospective students have this opportunity during the autumn holidays at the Tandem Days at the University of Würzburg. Registrations are open until 14 October.

The Tandem Days will take place from 2 to 6 November 2026. School pupils will attend lectures and seminars alongside a student tandem partner, go to the canteen at lunchtime, and visit all the places where students at the University of Würzburg regularly spend their time. There will also be opportunities to talk to lecturers and other students during these days.

The Tandem Days are one of several initiatives organised by the Central Student Advisory Service, offering those interested the chance to find out more about Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU), student life and their chosen subjects.

In principle, anyone interested in studying at JMU can take part, though the event is primarily aimed at school pupils. For this reason, the Tandem Days take place once a year during the Whitsun holidays and once during the autumn holidays.

Programme and registration

What happens on a Tandem Day? Prospective students can register on the Central Student Advisory Service’s website and choose their preferred subject from over 25 options. On the day itself, they meet up in a group of no more than five people with an ambassador. The ambassadors – in consultation with the relevant lecturers – select the lectures to attend, give a tour of the campus, talk about their everyday lives and answer questions about the University of Würzburg and their degree programmes.

The registration deadline for the Tandem Days during the upcoming autumn holidays is 14 October.
