Computer science students found start-up
01/13/2026A new partner for process automation in companies: This is avenia solutions - a start-up founded by computer science students from the University of Würzburg.
A student project has turned into a real company: The Würzburg start-up avenia solutions supports small and medium-sized companies in optimising their processes.
Erik Spall and Timo Reusch founded the company while studying for their Master's degree in computer science. They develop software solutions for the digitalisation and automation of business processes.
The founders are particularly focussed on the topic of "digital sovereignty". This refers to the ability of companies to act independently and securely in the digital world and retain control over their own data and technologies.
The first product from the start-up portfolio is called sonaris. This is an intelligent social media marketing solution that has been specially developed for use in partner networks. The launch of the product is planned for the second quarter of 2026.

Support from the university
The start-up has its roots in Professor Harald Wehnes' course "Professional Project Management in Practice". There, the students learnt about modern project management methods as well as the process of setting up a company.
The University of Würzburg's Service Centre for Research and Technology Transfer (SFT ) advised the team on setting up the company. The SFT supports and assists all members of the university who wish to realise a business idea.
