On Thursday, 23 October 2025, at 6 pm, the book launch of the anthology "Stadt-Land-Boden. Verbindende Bodenpolitik zwischen Stadt und Land" will take place in the banqueting hall of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Saviour (access via Bibrastrasse 6).

This will be followed the next day by a workshop organised in cooperation with the Netzwerk Flächensicherung.

Background to the Anthology

Co-organiser and co-editor is Isabel Feichtner, Professor of Public Law and International Economic Law at the University of Würzburg.

The volume, published "open access" by transcript, is a result of her research programme on land commons at The New Institute in Hamburg.

Land as a Common Concern of Urban and Rural Areas

Whether in urban or rural areas - the transformation of land into capital investments leads to social and ecological problems. The sealing of land for new buildings is at the expense of agricultural land.

Transformative approaches such as collective land ownership and land allocation for the common good offer potential for both areas. Nevertheless, there are still only a few projects that link urban and rural areas.

The editors Isabel Feichtner, Susanne Heeg, Anne Klingenmeier, Gesine Langlotz and Katja Schubel have taken a first step towards closing this gap with the anthology "Stadt-Land-Boden". The volume combines problem analyses and solution approaches from science and practice - from urban development and agriculture to land policy, economics and ecology.

Discussion and registration

At the book launch, Anne Klingenmeier (young AbL / Farmers Without Borders) and Katja Schubel (University of Würzburg) will join the discussion:

Dr. Jan Menkhaus (AK Nordkirche), Edith Sachse (AbL), Professor Martin Schneider (Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt) and Johann Steudle (lawyer).

No registration is required to attend the book launch on 23 October.

For the workshop on 24 October, the organisers ask you to register by 21 October 2025 at jura-p-oerecht@uni-wuerzburg.de
