The fields of expertise and topics represented at the 2026 Würzburg Science Slam could not be more diverse. Alumni, female professors, female research assistants and one male professor will take to the microphone on Friday, 13 November 2026, from 7 pm to 9 pm in Lecture Theatre Block Z6 at Hubland, to win over the audience. They have just seven minutes to do so. The winner will be decided by the audience’s applause.

The slam will be opened by the 2025 winner, Dr Isabell Ramming, a microbiologist and postdoc at JMU.

The participants are:

  • Presenter: Johannes Keppner, Radio Gong, JMU alumnus
  • Dr Isabell Ramming, microbiologist, postdoc, JMU
  • Dr Daniela Tausch, psychotherapist
  • Prof. Dr Dahlia Shehata, Chair of Ancient Near Eastern Cultures, JMU
  • Jessica Kümmel, M.Sc., PhD student, Würzburg University Hospital
  • Prof. Dr Frank Schwab, Chair of Media Psychology, JMU
  • Prof. Dr Eva-Maria Kieninger, Chair of German and European Private Law and Private International Law, JMU
  • Susanna Götz, research assistant and PhD student at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt in the field of XR learning applications in medicine

The Science Slam bridges the gap between knowledge and entertainment, without trying to be slapstick. Rather, the aim is for participants to present their research and work topics in an entertaining and accessible way. A pinch of irony is always allowed to spice things up. And the rule is: cartoons, experiments, live singing – anything goes in this scientific short-presentation tournament.

The Würzburg Science Slam is a joint event organised by the City of Würzburg, the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt and the University of Würzburg.
