The Career Centre’s certificate programme prepares students for the demands of a globalised labour market. It raises their awareness, whilst they are still studying, of career fields and roles, some of which are still emerging or are difficult to predict. The professional skills taught in the programme enable participants to independently identify, plan and implement the necessary adaptation processes.

By obtaining the Professional Skills Certificate – which students on Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes can include in their application portfolios – both students and potential employers receive clear evidence of a high level of self-organisation and decision-making competence. This ensures that graduates are well equipped to meet the demands of the ‘Workplace 4.0’.

A key focus of the certificate is on communication skills – that is, the ability to interpret verbal and non-verbal signals correctly, apply communication models in a targeted manner and shape interactions successfully.

Equally central is personal competence, which encompasses, amongst other things, the ability to reflect, self-confidence, a sense of responsibility and a values-based approach. These skills enable students to respond flexibly to change and to actively shape their personal and professional paths.

Programme structure

The certificate programme comprises 20 ECTS credits, which can be earned over four semesters. Ten ECTS credits are allocated to the compulsory component and a further ten to the compulsory elective component. Within the compulsory elective component, students may choose two out of four possible areas of competence.

A total of four modules, each worth 5 ECTS credits, must therefore be completed. Each module consists of three to six courses, which can be individually selected from the semester programme.

To apply, please complete the form on the website and submit it to the Career Centre together with your certificate of enrolment.
