19th Plant Fair in the Botanical Garden
05/12/2026On Sunday, 17 May 2026, the Plant Exchange will take place in the Botanical Garden of the University of Würzburg. Due to ongoing construction work, the event is one of the few opportunities to visit the site at the moment.
Speciality nurseries and plant societies from all over Germany come to Würzburg for the plant exchange (Pflanzenbörse). Visitors have the opportunity to purchase specialities and rarities from a wide variety of plant groups on this day. The suppliers of the plants will also be on hand to provide expert advice.
The spectrum of plant groups on offer ranges from alpine plants, cacti, orchids, carnivorous plants, peonies, vegetables and herbs to tropical warm-house, tub and citrus plants. So there is definitely something for all plant and garden lovers.
The current list of exhibitors and the stand plan can be found on the garden homepage.
The Botanical Garden opens its doors at 10 am and the event ends at 6 pm.
Admission, access and catering
The Friends of ProPlanta will once again be providing refreshments with a cafeteria, a waffle stand and a barbecue stand (also vegetarian).
There will also be several guided tours on the day.
The Plant Fair is the only day of the year on which the Botanic Garden charges an entrance fee of 5 euros. With this entrance fee you support the Botanic Garden with new plants and reorganisations in the open air and in the greenhouses.
Dogs are not allowed in the Botanical Garden.
How to get there: To avoid traffic chaos in front of the Botanic Garden, you are strongly advised to come by bicycle or tram. Drivers should definitely use the large car park at the Dallenbergbad.
Construction work in the Botanical Garden
Due to construction work in the Botanical Garden, the grounds will unfortunately have to be closed to the public again after the Plant Fair. A visit to the plant fair is therefore one of the few opportunities to visit the garden this spring/summer.
