Prof. Dr Jan Baumgart, Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz, has been appointed to a tenured professorship in the pay grade W3 for Laboratory Animal Science and Animal Welfare at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 October 2025.
Dr Konrad Bedal, Honorary Professor, Faculty of Arts, passed away on 4 September 2025.
Dr José Lucas Brum Teixeira, Institute of Biblical Studies, has been appointed to the position of University Professor of Old Testament for the duration of Prof. Dr Barbara Schmitz's research sabbatical leave from 15 October 2025 to 31 March 2026.
Dr Sabine Fischer, University Professor (pay grade W 2), Center for Computational and Theoretical Biology (CCTB), has been appointed to a tenured University Professorship for Artificial Intelligence in Computational and Theoretical Biology (pay grade W 3) at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 October 2025.
Privatdozent Dr Marek Grummt, University of Halle-Wittenberg, will be employed from 15 October 2025 until the position is permanently filled, but until 31 October 2026 at the latest, in the position of a W 3 University Professor of Pedagogy for Physical and Complex Disabilities.
Prof. Dr Ulrich Hammes, Technical University of Munich, has been appointed to a tenured University Professorship of Botany I - Molecular Plant Physiology at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 October 2025.
Gerhard Hohenner, Akademischer Direktor, Institute of Classical Philology, retired at the end of September 2025.
Prof Dr Johannes Jung, Akademischer Direktor, Institute of Education, retired at the end of September 2025.
Prof. Dr Eckhard Kreßel, Faculty of Law, passed away on 14 September 2025.

Christiane Rügamer has been working in the Central Administration, Department 4: Service Centre Human Resources, Unit 4.1: Comprehensive Personnel Service, since 1 October 2025.
Mario Schadtle, Akademischer Rat, Institute of Modern Languages, has been granted lifetime appointment into civil service with effect from 1 October 2025.
Dr Sabine Schlegelmilch, University Professor in a private-law employment relationship, Institute for the History of Medicine, was appointed to a tenured University Professorship for the History of Medicine at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 October 2025.
Privatdozentin Dr Elena Semenova, University of Cologne, was appointed to a tenured University Professorship of Comparative Politics at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 October 2025.
Privatdozent Dr Ugur Uslu, Center for Cellular Immunotherapies, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, was appointed University Professor of Dermatological Oncology, pay grade W 2, at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 October 2025 until 30 September 2031.
Annalena Wosowiecki has been employed at the University's Family Service since 17 September 2025.
