Christian Dörr took up his post as an employee in the Central Administration, Department 6: Service Centre Technical Operations, on 1 September 2025.
Birgit Endres joined the Central Administration, Department 6: Service Centre Technical Operations, as an administrative employee on 1 September 2025.
Maximilian Engert, Central Administration, Unit 4.5: Human Resources Management, will be appointed Deputy Head of Unit with effect from 1 November 2025.
Prof Dr Matthias Flatscher, Chair of Practical Philosophy, has been appointed to the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Human Sciences as a representative of the group of the professors who are holding this position as their main employment to replace Prof. Dr. Andrea Kübler, whose membership of the committee has ended. His term of office will start on 1 October 2025 and end on 30 September 2027.
Prof Dr Philipp Kobusch, Institute of Classical and Ancient Studies, was appointed to a tenured professorship at the University of Rostock with effect from 1 August 2025. His lifetime appointment into the civil service of the Free State of Bavaria therefore ended by operation of law at the end of 31 July 2025.
Carina Neugebauer, Bibliotheksinspektorin, University Library, will progress to lifetime appointment into civil service with effect from 30 September 2025.
Dr Silke Neuhaus-Eckhardt, Junior Professor, Institute of Mathematics, has been reappointed Junior Professor of Mathematics (University Teaching) at the University of Würzburg for the period from 17 October 2025 to 16 February 2026.
Prof Dr Hans-Joachim Vollrath, Head of the Chair of Mathematics Education from 1972 to 2000, passed away on 26 August 2025 at the age of 90. The professor built up a remarkable collection of historical mathematical instruments at JMU. After his retirement, he repeatedly organised public exhibitions at the Institute of Mathematics from this collection.
