Dr. Dr. Gerhard Droesser, former Professor of Christian Social Science at the University of Würzburg, passed away on 3 May 2026.

Sabine Mewis, Central Administration, was appointed Head of Unit 1.3: Studying in Würzburg (International Office Incoming) with effect from 1 June 2026.

Alfred Reichling, former Professor of Music Education at the University of Würzburg, passed away on 14 May 2026.

Prof. Dr David Stegner, Institute of Experimental Biomedicine, has been granted lifetime appointment into civil service with effect from 22 May 2026.

Dr. Leonie Uhl, research assistant in the working group of Prof Dr. Martin Eilers, Head of the Chair of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, is among the 30 nominees for the Körber Foundation's German Study Award 2026, which will be presented at the end of June. The prize is awarded annually to doctoral students who have worked on socially relevant topics in their dissertation and presented tangible results. The prize is awarded in the categories of social sciences, natural and technical sciences and humanities and cultural studies. The top prize in each category is 25,000 euros. Dr Uhl's dissertation deals with how MYC multimers protect cancer cells and at the same time become their weak point.
