Prof. Dr. Jörg Müller, Chair of Conservation Biology and Forest Ecology, will take up the post of DFG Liaison Lecturer at the University of Würzburg on 1 August 2026. He succeeds Professor Dr. Birgit Terhorst. DFG liaison lecturers act as a link between researchers at a university and the German Research Foundation (DFG). They advise researchers on site – particularly first-time applicants – on funding opportunities, provide support with the application process and assist with any queries regarding the application and approval procedures.
Julia Seubert started working on 1 July 2026 as an administrative staff member in Departments 1.2: European Education Programmes (ERASMUS) and 1.3: Studying in Würzburg (International Office Incoming).
Dr. Martin Väth, research associate at the Institute of Systems Immunology, has been appointed as a university professor of immunometabolism at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 July 2026, having been appointed to a tenured post.
At its inaugural meeting on 1 July 2026, the Student Council made the following decisions: the Chair of the Student Council for the new term of office is Krisztina Fazekas (Faculty of Physics and Astronomy); Lukas Hannes Semrau (Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy) was elected as Deputy Chair. The student representative on the extended university management board is Nicole Angermund (Faculty of Management and Economics); Leopold Schaller (Faculty of Physics and Astronomy) is her deputy.
At its constituent meeting on 2 July 2026, the Student Parliament made the following decisions: the Chair of the Student Parliament is Florian Grether (Faculty of Medicine), and his Deputy is Patrick Saal ( Faculty of Arts). The members of the Student Representatives’ Council are Franziska Beisler (Faculty of Physics and Astronomy), Tobias Haase (Faculty of Human Sciences), Pia Röttgers (Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science), Manja Zimmerer (Faculty of Physics and Astronomy), Stephan Jaboreck (Faculty of Biology), Alexander Stenger (Faculty of Human Sciences) and Paula Sontag ( Faculty of Human Sciences). The term of office for the newly elected members begins on 1 October 2026 and ends on 30 September 2027.
