The 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting will take place from 28 June to 3 July 2026. The event has been promoting interdisciplinary exchange between the world's leading scientists and excellent young researchers since 1951. This year's edition will be attended by 75 Nobel Laureates and 600 young scientists. Five outstanding young researchers from Würzburg are taking part: Carsten Büchner (PhD student at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research), Philipp Kessler (PhD student at the JMU Chair of Physical Chemistry I), Dr. Hermann Neitz (research associate at the JMU Chair of Organic Chemistry I), Han Seungbin and Johanna Siegel (both PhD students at the University Hospital).

Dr. Camilla Ciolli Mattioli, Research Associate at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rechovot, Israel, was appointed Junior Professor (grade W 1) of RNA-based Infection Research I at the University of Würzburg for a period of three years with effect from 1 February 2026.

Prof. Dr. Uta Eberlein, Clinic and Polyclinic for Nuclear Medicine, will continue to be employed from 1 April 2026 until the position is permanently filled, but until 31 March 2027 at the latest, in the position of University Professor (grade W 2) for Medical Physics.

Dr. Gabriele Hierlmeier Bestgen, Junior Professor, Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, is reappointed Junior Professor of Inorganic Molecular Chemistry and Catalysis at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 May 2026.

Dr. Lea Hildebrandt, member of the academic staff, Institute of Psychology, has been appointed with probationary appointment into civil service with effect from 1 March 2026.

Privat lecturer Dr. Coralie Rippl-Uhlenhut is appointed to the position of University Professor of German Philology for the duration of Prof. Dr. Regina Toepfer's leave of absence for research from 1 April 2026 to 30 September 2026.
