The temporary employment of Professor Dr Johanna Buß as a university professor for Indology under private law was terminated by mutual agreement at the end of 14 October 2025 on the basis of the agreement dated 13 October 2025/14 October 2025.

Dr Alexandra Dmitrienko, University Professor, Institute of Computer Science, was appointed as a University Professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen with effect from 1 October 2025 with tenure as a civil servant. Her civil servant status for life with the Free State of Bavaria therefore ended by law at the end of 30 September 2025.

PD Dr Anna Aurelia Esposito, will be temporarily employed in the position of University Professor of Indology for the duration of Professor Dr Jörg Gengnagel's leave of absence from teaching from 15 October 2025 to 31 July 2026.

Prof. Dr. Süleyman Ergün, Director of the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology, was honored by the Anatomical Society with its first-ever Excellence Award for his outstanding contributions to the fields of anatomy and cell biology and to the Anatomical Society. In addition to his scientific achievements, Ergün has been organizing the Anatomical Society's annual conference in Würzburg every two years since his appointment to the University of Würzburg in 2011, where he is responsible for the scientific program. He was also a member of the Society's Executive Board from 2015 to 2019.

Dr André Forster, Akademischer Rat, Institute of Psychology, has been appointed as a civil servant for life with effect from 14 October 2025.

Dr Thomas Herrmann, University Professor, Institute of Virology and Immunobiology, has retired at the end of September 2025.

Prof Dr Wolfgang Kiefer, former Head of the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Würzburg, was appointed Foreign Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). NASI is the oldest national academy of sciences in India and the promotion of scientific knowledge and its application to the common good is its fundamental objective.

Dr Patrick Meier, private lecturer in civil law, civil procedural law, insolvency law, commercial and corporate law, private consumer law and sports law, notary with official residence in Bischofsheim in der Rhön, was appointed "Außerplanmäßiger Professor" with effect from 14 October 2025.

Dr Nicola Oswald, Akademische Rätin, Sustainability Laboratory (WueLAB), has been granted venia legendi in the subject area of "Mathematics" with effect from 14 October 2025.

Dr Carlotta Posth, Junior Professor, Institute of Modern Languages, has been reappointed Junior Professor of Medieval Comparative Literature at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 May 2026.

Dr Michael Sendtner, University Professor, Institute of Clinical Neurobiology, has retired at the end of September 2025.
