Dr Irina Dudanova, University Professor, University Hospital Cologne, has been appointed University Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology I at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 April 2026, with tenure as a civil servant.
Prof Dr Süleyman Ergün, Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology, retired at the end of March 2026. However, from 1 April 2026 to 31 July 2026, he will be employed on a transitional basis in the position of a university professor of grade W 3 for Anatomy and Cell Biology II at 50% of regular working hours.
apl. Prof. Dr Guido Fackler, Academic Director, Institute of German Philology, will be employed on an interim basis from 1 April 2026 until the position is permanently filled, but until 31 March 2027 at the latest, in the position of a W 3 university professor of museum studies.
Dr Linus Franke has been appointed Junior Professor (grade W 1) of Computer Science (Visual Computing) at the University of Würzburg with effect from 1 April 2026.
Dr Felix Fluri, Associate Lecturer in Neurology, Co-Chief Physician, Rheinburg-Klinik Walzenhausen, was appointed "Außerplanmäßiger Professor" with effect from 27 March 2026.
Dr Dr Stefan Hartmann, Privatdozent in Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in particular Experimental Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Deputy Clinic Director and Senior Consultant, Clinic and Polyclinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, was "Außerplanmäßiger Professor" with effect from 26 March 2026.
Dr Hermann Heineken, Professor of Mathematics at JMU from 1973 to 2003, passed away on 4 April 2026 at the age of 90.
PD Dr Katharina Hohbach-Hohenfellner, Head Physician at the Department of Paediatric Nephrology, RoMed Klinikum Rosenheim, has been granted venia legendi in the fields of paediatrics and paediatric and adolescent medicine with effect from 1 April 2026.
Dr Hanieh Keneshlou will be employed from 01.04.2026 until 05.04.2027 at the latest in the position of a university professor of grade W 2 for mathematics (computer algebra) on a transitional basis.
Prof Dr Markus Lau, Head of the Chair of New Testament Exegesis, was appointed to the Sustainability Commission as a member of the group of university professors. His term of office extends until 31 October 2027.
Etienne Reiter (Green University Group) has resigned from the Senate as a member from the group of students. He will be replaced by Nicole Angermund (Green University Group).
Martin Steigerwald, Regierungsoberinspektor, Service Centre Human Resources, Central Administration, is appointed Regierungsamtmann with effect from 01.05.2026.
Maharitra Tafitaniaina has been employed in the administrative service in Unit 3.2 (Accounting) of the Finance Service Centre in the central administration since 01.04.2026.
Dr Jogirdas Vainauskas, Organic Molecular Chemistry, McGill University, Montreal, Canada, is joining the group of Prof. Dr Frank Würthner, Organic Chemistry, on a Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers.
